Size and uses

A 10-ton lorry is usually 24–27 ft long and carries about 10,000 kg.

  • Bulk goods, pallets and building materials
  • Factory and warehouse moves, and big machines
  • Long-distance loads where one big trip beats two smaller ones

Road rules for heavy lorries

  • Lorries over 7,500 kg laden are not allowed on central KL roads at peak hours (about 6:30–9:30 am and 4:30–7:30 pm).
  • They are also banned from the roads on festive-season days announced by the Ministry of Transport (for example around Hari Raya).
  • Driving one needs a Class E licence; hire it with a driver unless you are a licensed operator.
