What a forklift costs to rent in Malaysia by the day, week and month, from 2.5 to 10 tons, diesel or battery, what delivery costs and who may drive it.
Forklift rental prices
Public Malaysian rental listings and price lists (2025–2026), forklift only:

| 2–3-ton battery or lithium | ask for a quote | ask for a quote | about RM1,500–RM2,800 |
Market estimates, not CariLori prices. A week usually costs about 4–5 days' rent, and long-term hire (6 months or more) costs less per month and usually includes maintenance. Diesel prices rose in 2026, so older price lists may be low.
Delivery and operator
- Delivery and pick-up: usually extra, by distance. Within about 25 km, from free for some 3-ton units to about RM1,300 for a 5-ton, and about RM1,200–RM2,100 for a 10-ton (2025–2026 listings).
- Operator: usually not included. Ask for the operator's price per day separately.
- For one day, delivery can cost as much as the rent: ask for the total price before you agree.
Diesel, battery or lithium?
- Diesel: outdoors, yards and rough floors.
- Battery (electric): indoors: no fumes and quiet, but it needs charging time.
- Lithium: indoors, charges faster and needs no battery changes.
Warehouse trucks
For racking and pallets indoors, monthly rental (2025–2026):
| Truck | Per month |
|---|---|
| Reach truck | about RM1,900–RM2,700 |
| Electric stacker | about RM1,000–RM1,500 (or about RM220 a day) |
| Electric pallet truck | about RM600–RM800 |
Who may drive a forklift
At a workplace, only trained and authorised people may operate a forklift (OSHA 1994 and the factory lifting rules): operators get a training certificate. On a public road the driver also needs a JPJ licence. If nobody on your team is trained, hire the forklift with an operator.
What to tell suppliers
- The weight of your heaviest load and how high it must be lifted
- Indoors or outdoors, and the floor
- How many days, weeks or months you need it
- Your site address, for delivery
- Whether you need an operator

Can I rent a forklift for just one day?

At work, the operator must be trained and authorised by the employer (a training certificate). On public roads a JPJ licence is also needed.
