Permits, escorts and road rules
- Oversized or abnormal loads need a Special Movement Permit from the authorities before the journey; the supplier arranges it, and a licensed escort when the load exceeds the legal limits, so give a few days' notice.
- Height: the total height with the load may not exceed 5 m on PLUS highways; after low loaders hit overhead structures in 2026, PLUS, JPJ and the police check this.
- Weight: axle loads follow the JKR Weight Restriction Order 2003; in Peninsular Malaysia a 5-axle combination may gross 45 tons and a 6-axle 50 tons.
