Scissor lift prices

Boom lift prices

Rental company price lists and blogs (2026):

The operator is usually extra (about RM150–RM300 a day), and so is fuel. Delivery and collection cost about RM150–RM500 from a local company, and a deposit of about RM500–RM2,000 is common.

Which lift for the job?

  • Lorry skylift: signboards, street lights, tree cutting, painting and roof work along a road. It drives to the site and comes with its operator.
  • Scissor lift: ceilings, lighting and warehouse racks on a flat floor; it only goes straight up.
  • Articulating boom lift: reaching up and over pipes, machines or other obstacles.
  • Telescopic boom lift: high walls and steel work that need a long, straight reach.

Half a day, a day or a month?

A skylift day is usually 8 am–5 pm, and most companies also rent for 4 hours, which suits one signboard or a quick repair. Hours beyond the agreed day are charged by the hour. For a fit-out or a wall that takes weeks, monthly rental costs much less per day.

Certificate of fitness (PMA) and safety

  • Certificate of fitness: since June 2024 skylifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts count as lifting machinery under DOSH's certificate-of-fitness rules. The certificate lasts 15 months and stays valid when the machine moves to another site. Many companies still call it the PMA: ask to see it before work starts.
  • Trained operator: the industry guideline for these lifts (MBAM, 2018) says the person using one must be trained and authorised, with someone on the ground who knows the emergency controls.
  • Safety gear: the same guideline asks for protective equipment suited to working at height; ask what the supplier's operators use.
  • Work by a road: some councils need a temporary permit for work that blocks a road, so check with yours before the day.

What to tell suppliers

  • The job and how high you need to reach
  • Indoors or outdoors, and the ground (floor, tar, grass)
  • The site address, and any narrow access or low roof
  • The date, and whether you need half a day, a day or longer
  • Whether you need an operator
